This is no time to sit back and wait for others to act. Humane Society International’s ProtectSeals team is doing everything we can to end the cruel slaughter of seals by campaigning to ban the trade of seal products in the European Union. But we can’t convince the EU to pass the proposed seal product ban without your help.

Please, if you do one thing for animals this year: Sign our petition for seals and ask all your friends to sign, too. You may even win a trip to Canada’s harp seal nursery! We will deliver all the signatures we receive to the European Commission and Parliament.

There are only two weeks left for the European institutions to make a decision on the seal trade ban before the next elections. That means we have just two weeks to convince the European Commission, Parliament, and Member States that EU citizens want the cruel commercial seal slaughters to stop.

But don’t just take our word for it. Paul McCartney, champion for the seals, has signed our petition calling for a ban, too, saying:

"The fate of millions of seal pups is in the hands of elected Members of the European Parliament. In the next few weeks, they will have a historic opportunity to stop the cruel trade in seal products throughout the European Union.

"I’ve signed the petition to ask MEPs to seize this momentous opportunity to end, once and for all, this trade in animal cruelty. Please, make your voice heard, too — join me in signing this important petition today."

In addition to 1) joining our contest and spreading the word, we also need you to 2) write to your Members of the European Parliament and 3) send a message to your country’s officials about this issue. We must let all three European Institutions know that EU citizens want this cruelty to end, and that a complete ban on trade in seal products is the best solution. We must make our voices heard!
